GeCo - Improving Gender Equality Competences

The Challenge

Many enterprises and universities start getting aware that gender equality is an important issue for their organisational policy in order to cope with growing competition for qualified staff members - and thereby for future economic success. However, they often lack the information and the resources to implement sustainable measures in their organisation.

Project Description and Outcomes

GeCo aims at developing a toolbox with practical examples of gender equality measures and policies which can be implemented in organisations, European wide. This toolbox is conceived as an innovative self-learning instrument, containing successfully implemented, concrete sample measures and change processes in detail. These shall support HR managers and other decision makers in inducing changes to improve gender equality in their own organisation. National network meetings of responsible staff members will serve to exchange experiences. The project will thereby contribute to a transfer of knowledge on the national and international level.

Considering the impact of the demographic change in European societies, the project contributes a significant part with respect to the competitiveness of organisations as well as fostering the participation of women in the labour market.

The GeCo partners are mainly institutions, which award organisations for good gender equality practices in their home countries. The project partners are based in six European countries.

The project is funded by the European Commission, under the EU programme "Life Long Learning, Leonardo da Vinci, Transfer of Innovation".
