Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Martina Schraudner

Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Martina Schraudner, born 1962, is head of the department of Gender and Diversity in Organisations at the Institute for Machine Tools and Factory Management at the Technical University of Berlin. Her research currently focuses on the integration of different perspectives in the innovation process already in very early stages of research planning. This requires the systematic involvement of potential users and a continuous dialogue between different kind of sciences and stakeholders on the one hand, and the readiness to integrate these different perspectives in the decision making processes on the other. Martina Schraudner has served in several innovation committee of the German government, is a member of the Expert Group "Structural Change" of the EU, and was member of the "Women in Science and Technology Group (WIST)". She has undertaken first steps in establishing gender mainstreaming strategies for research institutions in Germany especially by integrating gender aspects in different research themes.

She studied Biology and Biotechnology at Technical University of Munich where she also received her PhD. After having worked several years at the Society for Research in Environment and Health and at the ETH Zurich, she was deputy director at Forschungszentrum Jülich in Germany. She finished her Habilitation at the Faculty of Agriculture und Horticulture at Humboldt University Berlin, and subsequently moved to Fraunhofer. Her work focuses on the development of the areas of Health and Life Sciences, as well as on the establishment of gender mainstreaming in the organisation of research.

She is also a member of the executive board of the association "total equality e.V.", which stands for Total Quality Management (TQM) with the addition of the gender component "equality". It bestows awards for exemplary activities in terms of human resource management aimed at providing equal opportunities. Since 2008 Martina Schraudner is a quality management expert at ASIIN, a non-profit, registered association responsible for accreditation and quality in higher education in Germany.
